FixMyStreet for Porthill

The latest problems for Shropshire Council within Porthill ward reported by users
  • Large pothole causing elderly lady to fall, 19th September
There is a pothole with a square of white paint sprayed around it, in the middle of a crossing place at the end of the road where it meets Frankwell Island (on Drinkwater Street). My Grandma and I were crossing the road and my Grandma lost her balance due to the pothole and fell. Two local people helped get my Grandma up and supplied and gave first aid, gave her a seat and water. They told us she’s the third person they’ve see fall due to the pothole being in the middle of a crossing place in the road. Can you imagine a blind person at the vibrio tactile paving crossing there! We are very shaken up by today’s event, but equally grateful that it wasn’t any worse than it was. My Grandma will probably suffer for a few weeks from her injuries. Please look into this urgently.

  • Hedge overgrown footpath on south side of corner, 18th September
APOLOGIES FOR MY PREVIOUS POST- the location was inaccurate. The hedge is overgrown at the northeast corner the circular road effectively formed by Copthorne Drive. It forces the pedestrian onto the road on a blind corner.

  • Overgrown huge yew hedge encroaching footpath, 18th September
The large yew hedge has overgrown the footpath at 72 The Mount, especially adjacent to number 70, so as to narrow the path significantly, so that it’s dangerous for two people to pass each other , one of them having to walk into the road, on what is a busy and often fast- moving road. The hedge is eminently prunable. Please inform the homeowner. This has been the case for at least the last 3 years, with no obvious improvement.

  • Hedge overgrown footpath on south side of corner, 18th September
The hedge is so overgrown that it forces pedestrians on to the road on a blind corner. Please ask home owner to severely narrow the hedge.
